Teaching

Profe Ana is committed to evidence-based teaching practices that develop students' technical, analytical, and professional skills. Her courses emphasize active learning, real-world applications, and international collaboration. She studies the effectiveness of these approaches through the scholarship of teaching and learning.

International Virtual Exchange

Since 2023, Profe Ana and Profe Daniel Suárez Venegas from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia have implemented an International Virtual Exchange. Within her Global Health in Biomedical Engineering course, the exchange connects students across both institutions to collaborate on real-world global health engineering challenges, developing their intercultural communication and critical thinking skills.

Problem-Centered Learning

In BME 3060 - Biomedical Engineering Fundamentals, Profe Ana uses active problem solving and real-world biomedical engineering applications to teach core mathematical and analytical skills to second-year undergraduates. Every class period incorporates hands-on problem sets designed to develop both technical proficiency and critical thinking. Example problems and solutions are available on her YouTube channel.
